MONGOLIAN CASHMERE MARKET OVERVIEW
Mongolia is located in average elevation of 1585meters high, with minus 30 degrees during the winter. This enables the country to have the best quality raw cashmere.
Every year total of 7000 tons of raw cashmere is being herded in Mongolia from late February to late July. Different provinces have different quality of cashmere depending on its geographical location. Around 80% of total raw cashmere is being exported. For example: Sukhbaatar and Khentii provinces have the best quality cashmere but small quantity and earliest herding required for its special quality.
Cashmere quality:
Cashmere length 32-38MM
Cashmere micron: 16.0-17.0MIC
Cashmere output: 50-63%
Cashmere quality is reflection of each year’s weather, and it shows slight difference in the quality every year. In order to reach each year’s goal we need to pre-develop mixed collecting strategy.
