MOHAIR
Mohair is a luxurious natural wool fiber that is prized for many of its properties. Mohair is essentially a type of wool. It is an extremely soft fiber that is excellent for making a variety of projects.
How is Mohair Made? The angora goat is a species of domestic goat which are bred for their long, soft hair. Angoras have been around since ancient times and were popular in medieval Europe as producers of material that was widely sought after by the upper class. They produce mohair fiber from shearing twice per year with the older goats producing thicker fibers than younger ones due to thinning out over time because they lose their teeth or become ill without being able to graze on grasses anymore. The good news about this method though is it doesn’t harm them at all!
After mohair is produced it can then be blended with other fibers. Mohair can then be turned into yarn for knitting and crochet or it can be made into fabric for clothing items, wigs, home decor products, and more
